Meet Lisa

Lisa Bower with her two kids - Gavin and Emma.

Born in Ajax, Lisa grew up in Toronto but moved back to Ajax in 1999 to raise her family. She is a proud single mother of two wonderful adult children and their partners, and her loyal dog Jojo!

Lisa's journey to Ajax Council began decades ago with her involvment in the community, starting at her children's schools and then at the school board level.

An ingrained enthusiasm for volunteerism has guided Lisa's involvement with many organizations through the years including Feed the Need Durham, Food Banks Canada, Lakeridge Health ACT Team, Relay for Life, Canadian Cancer Society, Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe, and most recently with Durham Outlook for the Needy, and Girls Inc.

Lisa has also helped fundraise for cancer research through Relay for Life as well as hosting her own event for the Canadian Cancer Society after beating cancer herself!

LIsa cherishes her family’s Filipino heritage through support of the Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe, honouring her late mother, who worked closely with this group for over 30 years.

As a member of Ajax Council, Lisa (alongside Regional Councillor Joanne Dies) established the Ajax Homelessness Task Force which continues its work today through Community Development Council Durham.  Lisa has also served on the Ajax Heritage Advisory Committee, Ajax Accessibility Advisory Committee, Downtown Ajax BIA, and Ajax Pickering Road Watch Committee.

Lisa’s professional experience in banking, training and development, investment planning and personal insurance has allowed her to excel in relationship building and people-focused service and solutions.  These strengths have naturally carried over to her role as Local Councillor, and Lisa received the Ajax Pickering News Advertiser Readers’ Choice Award for Best Local Politician in 2020 (Platinum Winner) and 2021 (Diamond Winner).

Listening to what matters most, speaking loudly on behalf of those who don’t have a voice, standing for a greater range of opinion represented at Council; Lisa has and will continue to serve Ward 3 residents honestly, passionately and responsibly.

Re-elect Lisa Bower.  Your Local Councillor for Ward 3.
